Hope you have a very merry Christmas. Be sure to leave Santa lots of cookies and milk.

Cold but Sunny Winter Day
We had the opportunity to spend the weekend in St Michael's Maryland at this incredible Inn. It was a very unique experience and we had a great time. Too bad it was so cold and windy - we didn't spend as much time outdoors as I had hoped.

Clipper Flying Cloud - PAA
What an amazing machine. The Boeing 307 Stratoliner.
"The Boeing Model 307 Stratoliner was the first fully pressurized airliner to enter service anywhere in the world. Being able to fly 20,000 feet higher than the 5,000 to 10,000 foot-altitude unpressurized airplanes a that time, it was said that it could "fly above the weather." It carried five crew members and 33 passengers and had a nearly 12-foot wide cabin for overnight berths. The Stratoliner was also the first land-based airplane to have a flight engineer as a member of the crew."
You can read the Press Release here about the decision by Boeing to restore it:

On Marigolds
Home Depot sells millions of these every spring. Have you ever stopped to look at a marigold. Everyone stops to smell the roses - right? But have you ever stopped to look at a marigold? Granted - their smell is not as nice as a rose. Anyway - here's a macro shot - and I think it's an amazing picture and flower.

In the words of my brother... "Ta Da"
The blackbottom pool came out better than expected. Still think it took way too long. They filled it with water at noon and the water felt warm to the touch by evening. (NO PUMP OR HEATER) I think the blackbottom is going to be a real energy saver.

Rest In Peace My Good Brown Boy
Sam Adams
April 1997 - June 2008
My friend is loyal and eager to please
I'd sit in my chair, his head on my knees
I'd stroke his back and pat him on the side
The things he would do filled my heart with pride
He watched my house and my family too
He was always there to look over you
Never my house did I have to lock
A bark and a growl at the very first knock
Unconditional love is what he gave to me
From the look in his eye it was all you could see
Sometimes I'd yell "be quiet, lay down"
He'd lay in the corner and not make a sound
As he grew old and couldn't get around
I forgot how he'd greet me with a leap and a bound
Soon came the time he could no longer stand on his own
I picked him up and carried him to see God's home
On the way there I remembered all the good years
I looked at my friend through all of my tears
I told him I loved him
Soon the pain would be gone
I did the hardest thing
I ever have done
I went the last mile
I was there to the end
I know now why they called him

Yellow Season
The yellow and copper roses are now in bloom. They worked perfectly with the cream colored foxglove and pale iris.
Jerry said this was one of his favorite arrangements.

Icelandic Poppy
They absolutely DO NOT like Maryland Summers. These will be gone in a few weeks. Enjoying them while they are in full bloom. It has been cooler and wetter this spring, which I think explains the number and quality of blooms.
Amazing.
Amazing.

Tulip Popluar Tree
Typically it's really, really heard to see the blooms in the Tulip Poplar trees because they grow so tall and the blooms tend to be in the canopy. Not sure why (maybe the rain?) our trees are blooming on the lower branches. It enabled me to capture this wonderful shot.

Silvermoon Clematis
I never use to like Clematis, but they are starting to grow on me. This plant must love this location because I've never seen so many blooms on one plant before.

Azelea Season
Only 1 flower this year, but it sure was pretty. Hopefully the new fence will keep some or all of the deer out.

My favorite Peony
They might only last days, but that makes it all the better. It's Tree Peony season and this year has been spectacular.

The big Pour
They started at 6:30 a.m. yesterday and poured the pool. It was quite an adventure. Especially when the shot concrete (on purpose) into the air and into our woodland garden. Go figure. Anyway - I was able to wash most of it off.
Anyway - it looks fantastic.

White Tree Peony
Tree Peonies always bloom atleast 2 weeks before the herbaceous peonies and the white tree peony blooms atleast a week before the others.....So -it's the very earliest blooming peony I've found.
The really strange thing about this plant is that the blooms are usually short lived. Why? They either get hit by a cold snap OR we have a couple of freak 90 degree days and they wilt early. This year it's the heat. Yesterday was 89 degrees when I left work at 6 p.m.

Bleeding Heart and Birdbath
The Bleeding Heart has really jumped out of the ground this year. I was able to spend some quality time in the kitchen garden this weekend and got it all cleaned up.

We'll be swimming by Memorial Day
The big toys arrived this morning and they did quite a number on our yard. :) I really think the pool is going to look fantastic. Black bottom with blue stone decking. Can you imagine it yet? Stay tuned for updates.....

A black Hellebores
I planted it! I think it will be a nice addition to the forest garden. When the sun isn't directly shining on it - it looks black.
Spring is here!
O.k. - they've been blooming a few weeks, but it was finally warm enough to take pictures. I found a black one at the garden center yesterday. Way cool eh? I plan on planting it today. Hopefully it's a healthy one.

Front Row Seat at 8000 Feet
O.k. - now this was cool. Small 6 seater plane in the front seat - zooming along at 8000 feet.
I've flown hundreds of times in my life, but the experience is entirely different in the front seat.
I now know what it feels like to be an "angel" - floating in the clouds.

30 seconds before Night takes over
I still haven't figured out why some photo's get a lot of traffic and others get very little. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This shot got quite a bit of attention today. I actually like a different picture better.... - the one directly below - titled Sunset on the Osa.

Sunset on the Osa
I have 2 favorite times of day. Sunrise and Sunset. Sunrise is for bird watching and Sunset is for relaxing and reflecting. There is no better place on the planet than to watch the sunset on the Osa Penisula. At least it's the best I've found so far.... (smile)
Not sure if others will connect with this picture but I love the silouettes of the teenagers playing in the surf.

The Welcoming Committee - Corcovado Tent Lodge
Great story behind this one. The dog is from La Leona Tent Lodge but follows the man from Corcovado Tent lodge 2x daily for the 2 mile round trip from Carate Airfield to the Tent Camp. The cart transports the guest baggage.
Jerry likes this picture because of the pristine beach and that the only tracks are those made by the cart and dog.
